INTRODUCTION

I worked for 40 years as informatics, system organizer and I liked this profession, to build systems for the satisfaction of the end-users. Fortunately, by chance I got known the Biodynamic CranialSacral Therapy more than 10 years – in 2012 – and since then I knew that I want to learn and use this therapy later in my life. I was astonished by the effect and the experience what I felt when I received and gave a session of BCST. So I learned and practiced a lot and then in 2022 I finished a 3 year deep course on BCST, passed the exams, prepared my thesis and got my diploma. The topic of my thesis was – How Craniosacral biodynamics support pregnant women, mothers and newborns. I selected this topic as I am deeply motivated to support the mothers and babies to have a good labor and birth experience. The stories what I heard from my teachers about how they supported newborns also motivated me. With some shorter-longer therapeutic sessions – depending on the situation – newborns got the possibility to avoid life-long effects of the birth. It was also very inspiring for me that in Germany there are hospitals where it is a natural trend to provide the mother and the newborn 1 biodynamic craniosacral check/session immediately after birth and it is part of the Health Service. Also, the experiences and differences between my 2 deliveries drove me toward this special area.
Meanwhile I also decided to become a doula and I think that these 2 professions supplement each other and might really support mothers and newborns during this period of their common life and further on.

We can meet and have sessions in English. I can support you with the Biodynamic CranioSacral Therapy (BCST) and also as a doula during your pregnancy, labour and after birth in English. Below you can find my short introduction, a short presentation about the Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, how it can be very useful for anybody, for pregnant women and for newborns. Also I describe how I can support you before, during and after the labour and birth process as a doula.

ABOUT BCST

The Biodynamic Craniosacral Method, a holistic method using very gentle, delicate touch. We meet the client in a safe space, connect and synchronize with them. The treatment supports the client – whether child, adult, pregnant, newborn, dying, with physical or psychological problems – to find balance, to be able to regulate themselves, to experience wholeness and unity, to trigger the body’s self-healing processes. It contributes to the recovery of the natural life forces in the client, to the reduction and elimination of existing barriers (barriers can be of any type – physical, emotional, physiological, psychological).

DOULA SUPPORT

In the old days, together the midwife who attended, cared to the body, there were women who prayed, opened the space and supported the mother with tenderness, full attention and love (for example, in Transylvania, this is how women gave birth for a long time).
Today, doulas take on this role, providing constant emotional support, physical comfort, help and information before, during and after the birth for the mother, the couple and the whole family. The role of the doulas is so much more today, because they not only support the family during the birth, but are also present before the birth and during the puerperium.
This support and presence is what I offer to the families who come to me.

DURING PREGNANCY, BEFORE BIRTH

During this period, support from a doula can be very important, both physically and emotionally. Currently there are many books and information available for couples expecting a baby, but none of them personalized, they do not answer, they do not dispel doubts, they do not take enough time to address individual problems and discuss experiences. During the meetings we try to fill-in all these gaps and at the same time provide an opportunity for the birth couple and the doulato get to know each other better.

During these meetings the couple share the feelings and ideas about pregnancy and birth. I am going to answer the questions so the couple can make the right decisions about how and under what conditions to bring the child into the world. E.g. What is the safest environment, where the pregnant woman can best immerse herself in the process.

In addition to the physical and emotional attunement, this period can be a very important outcome of the preparation of a so-called birth plan, the existence of which can greatly contribute to the couple’s ability to make decisions during the birth, to react and respond to new situations and events that may arise, to choose between options, knowing the risks and the impact of the decision taken.

DURING BIRTH, BIRTH ATTENDANCE

The doula can have a special role compared to other birth attendants. A doula is not a doctor, a nurse or midwife. She is not qualified to make any professional decisions. However, during her training, she learns about common medical procedures so that she can explain them to the parents and thus reduce their uncertainty and anxiety. To prepare them and make them aware of what is likely to happen, thus reducing their fear and the likelihood of stalling.
As your birth doula, I am with you during the hours of labor and birth, as you need me to be. I use all my knowledge and experience to provide emotional and physical support for you and your partner. With aromatherapy oils, compresses, craniosacral therapy, breathwork, and massage, you and your baby will be able to get support.

AFTER BIRTH AS A POSTPARTUM DOULA

It is very important that in the immediate postpartum period, which by definition lasts up to 6 weeks, the mother has enough time to rest and adjust to her newborn baby. It is important that she has no other focus, neither physically nor mentally, than her baby, her immediate family and herself. This is very important because during this period the mother is very open, both physically and emotionally, and it is therefore very important to protect this period until it is „closed”. In other words, the whole process does not end with the birth, but continues until the end of the puerperium. This means physically that there are huge changes in the body, wound healing, uterine regression, hormonal changes, milk production starting and adjusting to the right level.

All this takes a lot of energy from the mother. If she is patient, rests and eats properly, these processes will take place beautifully over the 6 weeks. It is also necessary that the household and self-care do not take up most of her energy. In addition, she will be faced with completely new situations and tasks, and it is good to have someone to turn to. Here is how I can help you as a nanny doula:
